Safety & Fleet FAQ
At Cardiff Jet, your safety is our foundation. Our professional fleet, including Taranau and Twist, is maintained to rigorous commercial standards and operated by commercially endorsed skippers with years of experience in the Bristol Channel.
How many people can you take on the boats?
Our capacity depends on the vessel and the type of trip:
- Taranau: Coded for 12 passengers + 2 professional crew.
- Twist: Optimized for 10-11 passengers.
Are there age or height restrictions?
We welcome all ages! For our faster experiences, we enforce a minimum height of 1.1 metres so passengers can safely use the integrated footrests. For younger children or a gentler pace, our Bay Waves and private river charters are the perfect choice.
What safety equipment is provided?
Safety is paramount. We provide every passenger with a premium, high-buoyancy automatic lifejacket. Our vessels are equipped with:
- Commercial Liferafts and Liferings
- AIS Class A Tracking & Dual VHF Radios
- Advanced Man-Overboard Recovery Systems
- Onboard CCTV for passenger monitoring
I have a medical condition; can I still go?
While our Coastal Shock trip involves the natural motion of the sea, our Bay Waves tours offer a smoother passage. If you have back, neck, or heart conditions, or are pregnant, please contact us so we can recommend the most appropriate vessel and route for your comfort.
Who are you licensed by?
Cardiff Jet is fully licensed by the Maritime Coastguard Agency (MCA) and the Cardiff Harbour Authority. We operate to a strict Safety Management System (SMS) which includes regular emergency drills and maintenance procedures.
